SUMMARY:Classical Comedy Hour
DESCRIPTION:Amadeus Chamber Orchestra presents its first Classical Comedy Hour\, a hilarious collection of classical-themed skits and acts. Think SNL meets Victor Borge\, Jack Benny and PDQ Bach. From a string quartet desperately seeking violist to the colossal\, ultra-conductor Maestro Massimo\, you’ll be laughing hysterically\, all while feeling refined and cultured. This comedy hour will bring you closer to many of your favorite classical musicians from around Portland that are\, by coincidence\, really really funny! \nThe Amadeus Chamber Orchestra was founded by Adam LaMotte in 2018. It presents intimate but powerful performances. As a conductor-less chamber orchestra\, its strength lies in its flexibility\, and the reliance on the cumulative strength of all the musicians\, not just one musician calling the shots. Call it chamber music on steroids.

SUMMARY:Michael Kaeshammer
DESCRIPTION:Michael Kaeshammer has invested a lot – countless hours at the keyboard\, hundreds of recordings\, thousands of live performances\, millions of miles in the air and on the road – all in pursuit of a mastery of 12 notes across 88 keys. But for the acclaimed Canadian pianist and singer\, there is no set destination\, no achievable end point on his path; it’s all about the journey itself\, and that journey will always be ongoing. \nOver the course of decades as a professional performer\, Kaeshammer has developed a signature blend of classical\, jazz\, blues\, and boogie-woogie with effortless pop hooks for a compelling crossover style that’s immediately engaging yet impressively substantial. \n“When I play\, I don’t worry about if it’s jazz or pop or classical or whatever; I just play what I hear and let the music decide what it wants to be\,” begins Kaeshammer. “Sure\, there are different styles\, different eras\, different approaches\, but when you really look at it\, it’s all just music based on 12 notes.” \nBorn and raised in Germany\, Kaeshammer began performing club\, theatre\, and festival stages throughout Europe in his early teens and continued on that trajectory after emigrating to Canada’s West Coast with his family in the mid-‘90s. His first studio album\, Blue Keys\, dropped in 1996 and spurred a consistent sequence of heralded releases and high-profile international performances. Through it all\, the world watched as he grew from child prodigy to full-fledged phenom; from unparalleled pianist to virtuosic singer-songwriter. \nMichael’s many experiences have helped to hone his skills as a vocalist and lyricist to the point that Kaeshammer is now pushing firmly into the realm of pop crossover as exemplified with his latest collection\, Turn It Up. Expected in the Spring of 2023\, the 10-track collection finds Kaeshammer building on his mastery of the keyboard with deft and dynamic tinges of modern pop. The result is simultaneously his most ambitious and accessible offering to date\, its songs and stories both instantly engaging yet deserving of a deep\, disarming dive. \nFans will soon get to enjoy more fruits from that harvest as Kaeshammer returns to the road with a string of highly anticipated performances across Canada and the U.S. to close out 2022\, followed by a tour of Germany in the spring of 2023. \nTurn It Up seems like a particularly fitting label for this exciting new stage in an already-illustrious career; however\, despite all the achievements and accolades – the JUNO Awards\, the shows on iconic stages with international stars and symphony orchestras\, the strings of stellar reviews from major media outlets – Michael Kaeshammer doesn’t rest on his laurels; these are merely temporary stops on his journey\, and as always\, he’s solely focused on reaching the next one\, and then the one after that. \nMICHAEL KAESHAMMER – American Public Television (Trailer 2020) \n \n“Stop That Train”

SUMMARY:Behind the Scenes of History: An Evening with David Hume Kennerly
DESCRIPTION:Join Oregon History Maker and Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer David Hume Kennerly on a magical mystery tour through some of the major events of the past fifty-plus years as seen through his eyes and camera. From the night Robert Kennedy was shot\, to the battlefields of Vietnam\, to Watergate and the resignation of Nixon\, Kennerly’s photography has captured countless moments in history. This talk will transport you to the room where President Ford ended the Vietnam War\, Egyptian President Sadat’s historic trip to Israel\, the horrors of Jonestown\, Reagan and Gorbachev’s Fireside Summit in Geneva\, the governor’s mansion with George W. Bush as the 2000 election ended in a tie\, an elevator with President and Mrs. Obama on inaugural night\, and with Trump the night he won the presidential election in 2016. Kennerly was there for all of that and more\, and he will take you along for the photographic ride of your life. \nDavid Hume Kennerly has been a photographer on the front lines of history for more than 50 years. At 25\, he became one of the youngest winners of the Pulitzer Prize in Journalism. The 1972 award for Feature Photography recognized his work from the previous year\, and included images of the Vietnam and Cambodia wars\, refugees escaping from East Pakistan into India\, and the Ali v. Frazier “Fight of the Century” World Heavyweight Championship at Madison Square Garden. Two years later\, Kennerly was appointed President Gerald R. Ford’s Personal White House Photographer. \nKennerly’s photos have appeared on more than fifty major magazine covers\, and he has documented history in more than a hundred countries. He has photographed eleven U.S. presidents\, covered thirteen presidential campaigns\, served as a contributing editor for Newsweek magazine for ten years\, and was a contributing photographer for Time & Life magazines. American Photo Magazine named Kennerly “One of the 100 Most Important People in Photography.” \nIn 2019\, The University of Arizona Center for Creative Photography acquired the David Hume Kennerly Archive. It features almost one million images\, prints\, objects\, memorabilia\, correspondence\, and documents dating back to 1957. His work joins that of Ansel Adams\, Edward Weston\, Richard Avedon\, W. Eugene Smith\, and scores of other legendary photographers. The Oregon Historical Society honored Kennerly as a History Maker in 2016\, an award presented annually to contemporary individuals and organizations that are positively shaping the history\, culture\, and landscape of Oregon. In 2018\, University of Arizona President Robert C. Robbins appointed Kennerly the university’s first Presidential Scholar. \n$36 / $26 for OHS members \nThis performance is 90 min with no intermission.

SUMMARY:Watkins Family Hour
DESCRIPTION:The Reser is excited to welcome Watkins Family Hour. \nWatkins Family Hour is a collaborative musical project founded by musicians and siblings Sara Watkins and Sean Watkins and traditionally held at beloved Los Angeles club Largo. Since the first Watkins Family Hour show in 2002\, the duo has released three studio albums\, debuting with their self-titled album in 2015\, following with Brother Sister in 2020 and\, most recently\, releasing Vol. II in August 2022. Sean and Sara recorded Vol. II at Los Angeles’s East West Studios in early 2022 alongside a stacked roster of longtime and new Family Hour collaborators\, including Fiona Apple\, Jackson Browne\, Madison Cunningham\, Lucius\, Jon Brion and more. As with their debut\, the band will tour in support of Vol. II\, bringing the Watkins Family Hour experiences to stages far and wide. \nAs both Sean and Sara continue to work on their own solo music\, as well as with their other bands like Nickel Creek and I’m With Her\, Watkins Family Hour remains an invaluable resource and respite for them both\, offering a familiar but ever-evolving space to test new ideas\, meet new collaborators and\, most importantly\, have a good time doing what they love. \nSpecial guest Margaret Glaspy! On Margaret Glaspy’s long-awaited second album\, Devotion\, this highly acclaimed young artist reaffirms her status as one of the most sharp-eyed singer-songwriters of her generation while managing to fearlessly reinvent her sound. \nRuntime: 90 min. with intermission. \nReser Presents performances no longer require masks for entry. While face masks are no longer mandatory\, they are highly encouraged.\nIn addition\, COVID-19 vaccine proof is no longer a condition of entry. \nWatkins Family Hour – “She Left Me Standing on the Mountain” (Ft. SUMMARY:Film: The SixTripleEight – No Mail\, Low Morale
DESCRIPTION:The SixTripleEight – No Mail\, Low Morale \nThe SixTripleEight documentary film tells the story of the only all-black female Women’s Army Corps (WACs) battalion to serve overseas during WWII. \nIn February 1945\, the U.S. Army sent 855 black women from the Women’s Army Corps (WACs) to England and France to clear the backlog of mail in the European Theater of Operations. The 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion\, known as the SixTripleEight\, was the only all-black female battalion to serve in Europe during WWII. Confronted with racism and sexism from their own leadership and troops\, they served with honor and distinction completing their mission in six months. By war’s end\, the SixTripleEight had cleared over 17 million pieces of backlogged mail ensuring the troops stayed in touch with their loved ones back home. The last of the women returned home in March 1946.  They were never fully recognized…until now. \nFree admission to U.S. active-duty military and US military veterans. Please call our box office for tickets. \nRuntime: 75 min. with no intermission. \nReser Presents performances no longer require masks for entry. While face masks are no longer mandatory\, they are highly encouraged.\nIn addition\, COVID-19 vaccine proof is no longer a condition of entry. \nSponsored by Bank of America
