Inspired by the grandeur\, dignity & modern peril of the elephant\, Ms. Buetti’s colorful and evocative use of brass and percussion will be enhanced by stirring video footage of these remarkable animals. Don’t miss this exciting & unique event\, sure to leave a vivid impression. \nThis fall concert\, conducted by David Bryan\, will feature two other original compositions. A Musical Guide to the Big Horn Brass\, by our longtime friend and associate Philip Neuman\, is an enchanting and good-humored work presenting all of the instruments in our ensemble with music and narration. The Risk of Birth is by composer and choral conductor Stephen Galván\, a piece originally for chorus and now adapted for brass by the composer at the request of Andrew Harris. \nThis characteristically varied program will also include arrangements of well-known music by Debussy\, Johann Strauss Sr.\, Leonard Bernstein and others\, all arranged by local friends of Big Horn Brass. DESCRIPTION:Al Stewart with his Band The Empty Pockets \nAfter Al’s US tour in 2019 with his band The Empty Pockets\, he spent most of 2020 and 2021 sidelined due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But in 2022\, he came back full force with a string of sold-out shows in the United States and the United Kingdom\, and he even made his debut in Israel. In 2023\, he’ll continue his trek with several shows throughout the United States. He will be playing his old favorites\, like Year Of The Cat\, Time Passages\, On the Border\, Nostradamus\, and Roads To Moscow\, along with selections from his deep catalog. \nThe Scottish-born singer-songwriter has released nearly 20 introspective and lyrically powerful records featuring brilliant backing musicians (Jimmy Page\, Phil Collins\, Richard Thompson\, Peter White\, etc.). His biggest platinum successes\, “Year Of The Cat” and “Time Passages”\, were released in 1976 & 1978 respectively. He’s had several top 20 singles\, including the above-mentioned titles\, as well as “On the Border” and “Song On The Radio”. \nIn Al’s own Words: “I’m just a folk singer that is interested in history and wine that got lucky with some hit records! It’s as simple as that really. I was always a huge music fan and originally\, I had wanted to be Brian Jones and then Bob Dylan\, but those two jobs were already taken. And in many ways\, I’m still pretty much the same troubadour that I was back in 1965. I still get a kick out of hearing the Zombies\, Hendrix or They Might be Giants on the radio.”

DESCRIPTION:The three-time Grammy-nominated Afro-Caribbean music group Tiempo Libre is one of the hottest Latin bands today. Equally at home in concert halls\, jazz clubs\, festival stages\, and dance venues\, Tiempo Libre is celebrated for their sophisticated tropical music featuring an irresistible\, exhilarating mix of jazz harmonies\, contemporary sonorities\, and seductive Latin rhythms. Since the group’s formation in Miami in 2001\, its members have been on a mission to share their Afro-Caribbean heritage with as wide an audience as possible\, reinterpreting and reinvigorating music born from the fusion of their musical origins and new American experience. \nAs teenagers in Cuba\, Tiempo Libre’s members studied classical music by day at Havana’s rigorous Russian-style conservatory La ENA.  At night they met up to play the traditional music of their island. After emigrating to the United States\, the men formed Tiempo Libre\, a band that has become known around the world for its sophisticated\, dance-inducing concerts of a Cuban style of music called timba – a joyful combination of Latin jazz\, traditional Cuban “son\,” and other musical elements. With a focus on works spanning the Renaissance to today\, her programs often juxtapose repertoire from Gibbons and Rameau with audience favorites by Beethoven\, Schubert\, and Schumann\, and newly commissioned works from Nico Muhly\, Vijay Iyer\, and Héloïse Werner. \nAs a concerto soloist\, Rushdie Momen’s recent engagements have included performances with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra\, Deutsche Kammerakademie Neuss\, Orchestre National d’Ile de France\, and the Britten Sinfonia. While pianists have many opportunities to play the concerto repertoire\, this is one of only a handful of recital series that remains devoted to the solo piano recital.
