Produced by Sligo fiddler Oisín Mac Diarmada\, the long running show features top Irish music\, song and dance in an engaging performance rich in humor and boundless energy. \nThe family-friendly performance features stunning vocals from Cathy Jordan along with lively instrumental tunes on fiddle by Mac Diarmada\, flute and uilleann pipes by Caoimhín Ó Fearghaíl and harp by Gráinne Hambly. They perform along with thrilling old-style Irish dancing from Samantha Harvey. In addition\, evocative photographic images provide a backdrop to some of the rich historical traditions of Ireland. \nThe holiday show was first conceived in 2005 with past tours featuring such stellar guest vocalists as Niamh Farrell\, Séamus & Méabh Begley\, Teresa Horgan\, Lumiere. SUMMARY:Reaching for the Stars
DESCRIPTION:In celebration of their 20th Anniversary\, ISing Choir will perform the West Coast premiere of “To Shiver the Sky\,” a musical journey celebrating the spirit of exploration and mankind’s quest to conquer the heavens. This monumental oratorio on the history of flight\, composed by Grammy Award winner Christopher Tin\, will be performed under the direction of Stephen Galván with full orchestral accompaniment\, and feature acclaimed soloists Arwen Myers (soprano) and Steven Evans-Renteria (tenor). The work sets to music various texts by the world’s greatest astronomers\, authors\, inventors\, and pilots\, including da Vinci\, Copernicus\, Jules Verne\, Amelia Earhart\, and John F. Kennedy. Also included on the program will be the world premiere of “Perfect Silence\,” a new work by composer and former ISing Assistant Conductor David Walters commissioned by ISing Choir. “Perfect Silence” is a musical exploration of how and why we come to know the universe. The concert will conclude with “We Come A-Darkly Caroling” by David Lovrien\, a compilation of Christmas favorites sprinkled with humor and wit.

Three-time Grammy winner Mark O’Connor has redefined American string music\, blending classical\, jazz\, and bluegrass into his own signature style. Joined by his wife\, violinist Maggie O’Connor\, the duo delivers dazzling fiddle tunes and soul-stirring duets that celebrate the depth and beauty of American string traditions. \nMark O’Connor began his creative journey at the feet of American fiddling legend Benny Thomasson\, and the iconic French jazz violinist Stéphane Grappelli. Today\, he has melded these influences into a new American classical music\, and is perpetuating his vision of an American School of String Playing. Mr. O’Connor has won three Grammys\, seven CMA awards and several national fiddle\, guitar and mandolin champion titles. Mr. O’Connor has composed nine concertos and two symphonies recorded by the Baltimore Symphony\, London Philharmonic\, Colorado Symphony among others. O’Connor is well-known for his chamber music including his million-selling composition “Appalachia Waltz” featuring Yo-Yo Ma for the Sony Classical label. During the show\, there will be an Ugly Sweater/Best Holiday Look Contest with special prizes for the winners! \nPortland Cello Project is a genre-defying cello ensemble known for reimagining everything from Bach to Beyoncé. Based in Portland\, Oregon\, the group has built a reputation for pushing the boundaries of classical instrumentation by bringing cello-driven performances to rock clubs\, concert halls\, and festivals across the country. \nSince it’s founding nearly 20 years ago\, Cello Project (or PCP as some fans affectionately call them) has collaborated with an eclectic range of artists and performed bold arrangements of hip-hop\, pop\, metal\, and indie-rock\, all through the lens of classical technique and adventurous orchestration.
