    Call for Artists

    CALL FOR ARTISTS:

“The Curio:” Presented By The Beaverton Arts Market

The Patricia Reser Center for the Arts in partnership with The City of Beaverton / Beaverton Arts Market is pleased to announce a call for artists for its second annual exhibition and sale, The Curio. Visual artists in Oregon and Washington are invited to apply. The focus of the exhibition and sale is on original works of art, small gifts, and artist reproductions. To be considered, artists must have a strong body of work, demonstrate superior craftsmanship, and have a considerable inventory with multiple pieces available for sale. Please note, we will not be featuring holiday specific items in this exhibition.

Artists interested in applying to The Curio must submit their application through submittable at www.BeavertonOregon.gov/ArtSubmit by Sunday, May 5, 2024, by 11:59 pm Pacific Time. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. Submitting an application does not guarantee participation in this opportunity. A selection process will follow, and artists will be notified. For more information on eligibility, acceptable media, submission guidelines, and fees, please see the full prospectus linked below.

The Reser Gallery staff will hold two application info sessions over Zoom on Friday, April 12 at 1:00 pm and Friday, April 26, at 2:00 pm. These sessions will provide tips and guidance on how to prepare an application and answer any questions from potential applicants. To RSVP and receive the Zoom link, please send an email to gallery@thereser.org with subject heading “Curio Bootcamp.” The info sessions will be recorded and posted on the gallery website for those unable to attend either session.

The mission of the Art Gallery at The Reser is to exhibit diverse and intentional works of art by regional Northwest artists and to support and celebrate a community which values, participates, and partners in the arts. The Curio is a collaboration between the Beaverton Arts Market and The Reser Gallery that celebrates the creativity and diversity of regional artists and craftspeople while offering a unique shopping experience for art lovers.

    Art Gallery Temporarily Closed

January 24, 2024 – During the recent extreme weather in our area, a portion of the ceiling in The Reser’s lobby, and art galleries on both floors, sustained water damage due to an internal sprinkler pipe break in the ceiling on the second floor.

The good news is that the damage to the building is cosmetic, not structural, and it was contained to the southeast side of the building. The Mainstage Theater, the stage, seating areas, The Lab, Pavilion, and administrative offices were not affected. Plans for repair are underway. We are grateful that no one was injured. Sadly, some artwork was damaged in all three gallery spaces on the first and second floors.

Thank you for your well wishes as we have been evaluating the extent of the damage to the artwork. We appreciate the concern and offers to help when needed. We are thankful to have such amazing support from our dedicated volunteers, and the community. We are also grateful to Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue who were the first responders, the City of Beaverton’s facilities team, and our staff members for their quick response to this incident. They were all heroes to prevent further damage.

We regret to inform you that the Art Gallery will be temporarily closed. All performances and events in the rest of the building will move forward as planned. We are eager to welcome visitors back into the gallery as soon as possible.

To honor our current exhibiting artists, we have rescheduled the exhibition, Dialogues: An Emerging Artist Showcase, to reopen in early September. This will allow us to present their work in the best possible way and celebrate their achievements. It’s also the perfect opportunity for the community to vote on their favorite artwork, so we can announce the People’s Choice Award in October during our First Friday celebration. We appreciate your patience and support during this difficult time.

Please stay tuned by signing up for the gallery newsletter and following us on social media (Facebook, Instagram) for more information on this and our upcoming exhibitions.

As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our gallery staff at gallery@thereser.org. We look forward to seeing you all again soon!
