Moharaja: A Bangla Adaptation of Macbeth

Samatata Kingdom is in the throes of war. Only the bravery of General Mahmud Kha allows crisis to be averted and victory snatched from the jaws of defeat. On the voyage home, he happens upon three witches who foretell his future. Caught between the curious prophecy, the instigation of his wife Gulbahar Begum, and his own divided loyalties, what destination does fate have in store for Mahmud Kha? The answers can be found in Portland Bangla Theater’s second production, ‘Maharaja’, inspired by William Shakespeare’s timeless ‘Macbeth’. To be staged on February 9th, 2025.
