BLACK MATTER Artist Opening Reception & Sculptural Sound Performance featuring Santigie & Sapata Fofana-Dura
First Friday, September 5, 2025 | 6:00 – 9:00 pm (performance at 6:45) | Art Gallery
Join The Reser as we celebrate the opening of BLACK MATTER with an artist reception. Featuring new works by eight Black artists in Oregon, the traveling exhibition offers space for honest, expansive expression beyond imposed narratives of trauma or resistance. Featuring Intisar Abioto, Amirah Chatman, Jeremy Okai Davis, Sadé Duboise, Santigie & Sapata Fofana-Dura, Jason Graham (MO WO), and Master Artist Michael Bernard Stevens Jr., guests will enjoy sharing conversation and the joy of creativity along with a special Sculptural Sound Performance by Sapata and Santigie Fofana-Dura.
Sapata and Santigie Fofana-Dura design and build architectural sculptures that hinge around the storyteller. Imbued with the rugged elegance of abandoned timber salvaged from the Pacific Northwest, the artists will perform in tandem with the sculptural works choreographed to music.
Free and open to the public
