Connection Through Sound

Connection Through Sound is a concert built around the idea that music is both deeply personal and shared throughout our community. It features the Special Artist, Jacob Peizner, a 17-year-old saxophonist and an exceptionally talented young musician.

The concert begins with Franz Schubert’s String Quintet in C Major, D. 956, one of the most important works in chamber music. Written near the end of Schubert’s life, the piece is both powerful and intimate, highlighting musical conversation and emotional depth among the performers.

The second half of the program features works performed by Jacob Peizner. He will play Johann Sebastian Bach’s Flute Partita transcribed for saxophone, Sigfrid Karg-Elert’s Caprice No. II, “Valse Languide, and David Salleras’s Caprice III.

The concert concludes with Aleksandr Glazunov’s Saxophone Concerto in E-flat Major, Op. 109, a vibrant post-Romantic work. Highly expressive and lyrical, the concerto tells a beautiful story with captivating fluidity and drama, bringing the program to a powerful close.

The program concludes with Glazunov’s Saxophone Concerto in E-flat Major, a lyrical single-movement work that showcases the saxophone’s rich, singing voice within a classical tradition.
