    Interviews, reenactments, and animations tell the story of the Buffalo Soldiers —  Black army regiments, formed after the Civil War, that played pivotal roles in the settling of the American West. A number of the soldiers featured have strong ties to the Pacific Northwest – specifically Vancouver, Washington.  These soldiers fought bravely around the world for the United States, but were forced to fight for their own rights here at home.

    This award-winning documentary is particularly relevant today as our country is roiling with the agony of racial strife. By combining many diverse perspectives, the film examines the profound and often-contradictory roles played by Black soldiers in American history.
