The public is invited to join the festivities as we celebrate our first ever large-scale “printstallation”, Across Oceans by Portland artist Kanani Miyamoto. Blending Eastern art aesthetics and techniques with Hawaiian philosophy, Miyamoto celebrates her mixed heritage (Native Hawaiian/Japanese) in Across Oceans, a dramatic and expansive installation comprised of hundreds of hand-carved, cut and pulled prints. Participants are encouraged to meet the artist, view the work, and see the materials and woodblocks used to create the masterpiece. Guests can explore The Reser campus and the entrance of Beaverton’s City Hall during the First Friday Art Walk on Friday, May 3rd from 6 – 9 pm. Light refreshments by Roxy’s Island Grill will be provided. Miyamoto’s work will adorn the buildings through May of 2025. This event is FREE and open to the public.
