    The Evolve Experience

    Date February 23-24, 2024 Pricing $24

For two shows only, The Reser and the Red Door Project present The Evolve Experience, an award-winning series of monologues that inspire true dialogue. Afterward, a chance to reflect together to deepen perspective and foster understanding.

It’s a simple, powerful idea. See and hear real-life stories from racially diverse police officers, judges, and community members. Emerge moved and prepared to evolve the conversation about race and justice.

Directed by Co-Founder and Artistic Director, Kevin Jones, The Evolve Experience makes a compelling statement about the complexity of racial profiling from a wide variety of perspectives. “Through the telling and hearing of stories, we can understand, and perhaps even appreciate, the similarities in who we are,” says Jones. “We don’t have to like or even agree with what we hear, but through our common humanity we will build the world we want to live in, and that begins with listening.”
Hands Up: 7 Playwrights, 7 Testaments premiered in 2016, commissioned by The New BlackFest in the wake of police shootings of Mike Brown in Ferguson and John Crawford III in Beavercreek, among many others. The Red Door Project created Cop Out: Beyond Black, White & Blue in 2018, which reflects the complicated personal and professional experiences of police officers in our country today, based on interviews with law enforcement personnel.
The Evolve Experience includes monologues from both Hands Up and Cop Out alongside newly added judicial monologues commissioned by the National Center for State Courts. The goal is to stimulate conversation and equip participants with the self-awareness necessary to help overcome this seemingly intractable divide.
