Local world beat band Wamba will perform with Ghanaian drumming and dance troupe Woshishijye to celebrate the release of their new 11-track album at the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts (12625 SW Crescent Street Beaverton, Oregon 97005) on Friday, June 21st.
This special showcase of original and contemporary world beat music culminates with Wamba’s release of their latest album “Kormantse” and a special tribute to two prominent members of the local Ghanaian community: the late Master Drummer Obo Addy and Dr. Kofi Agorsah, former chair of Portland State’s Black Studies Department and archaeologist of the Kormantse historic site in West Africa. Joining the band will be Ghanaian drumming and dance troupe Woshishijye, including Obo Addy’s drummers.
