Open Call – Shine the Light: A Community Celebration

Event Description:
Join us for the annual Shine the Light, a free, community open house and celebration at The Reser! This family day will include art appreciation, theater, art activities, and fantastic performances featuring many beloved local performers and organizations. This event is free to attend, and all ages are welcome!

• Deadline to Submit: Friday, April 18, 2025 at 11:59 pm PST

Open Call for Performers: The Reser invites musicians, poets, dancers, puppeteers, writers, athletes, teaching artists, storytellers, etc. to propose new and innovative ways to engage artistically with the public at Shine the Light, our free family event celebrating the creative community of Oregon. We welcome submissions of all varieties but are particularly interested in:
Performances
• Vocal, instrumental, dance, comedy, acrobatics, puppetry
• No longer than 20-minute performances with a 10-minute changeover (minimal tech requirements)
• Accepted performances will take place either on the Mainstage, the Lab or in the Lobby.
Art Activities
• Both music and visual arts-focused
• Self-contained and applicable for all-ages, with all supplies provided by artist
Interactive Offerings
• Demonstrations, magicians, small-scale acrobatics, games
• Any other offerings are welcome and encouraged to be interactive and engaging for families!
Selected artists will have the opportunity to get exposure in a world-class arts venue; an honoraria is available. Submitted works will be reviewed by a panel of arts professionals and will be notified no later than Friday, April 25, 2025.
Submission Requirements:
• Artist, organization, or community group located in Oregon or Washington
• Performances no longer than 20 minutes
• Activities ideal for a 200-person crowd
• Minimal technical requirements (10-minute changeover between acts)
• Family-friendly and artistic in nature
• Availability all-day of Saturday June 7, 2025
• Submit before: Friday, April 18, 2025 at 11:59pm PST
