    RIBBON, 2021
    Concrete, steel, LED
Artists: Jason Klimoski and Lesley Chang, StudioKCA
Located at the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts Plaza at Crescent Street.

Structure merges with a creek, coming together through a dance of steel and light.

There is a compelling formal dialogue between the curved walls that define the Main Stage at the heart of The Reser and the Creek that sits just outside of it. Like a ribbon controlled by a performer in a dance, or caught in a sudden breeze, the back walls of the Stage shape and define space for action. The implied movement echoes Beaverton Creek’s arcs and eddies as it cuts its way through the city’s landscape, defining neighborhoods and parks along the way.

Ribbon highlights this conversation, the sculpture representing a ribbon caught in a slight breeze as it gently curves to touch the ground. One side of the ribbon is reflective, scribed with a pattern that echoes the rippling surface of Beaverton Creek. The other side is matte and smooth, reminiscent of The Reser’s Main Stage.
