OPENING NIGHT WITH THE SQUIRREL NUT ZIPPERS PERFORMING JAZZ FROM THE BACK O’TOWN: A MUSICAL JOURNEY TO THE BIRTHPLACE OF JAZZ IN 1920’S NEW ORLEANS

Often credited with ushering in the 1990s swing revival, Squirrel Nut Zippers are an eclectic hybrid of southern roots music, hot jazz, and klezmer. The Reser’s Opening Night Celebration includes an Opening Night Party!

    Diverse and Inspiring Programming

The Reser celebrates multiple perspectives from a wide range of cultures and communities by presenting programs that offer meaningful entry points for audiences and artists alike. The 2024–2025 season is a dynamic line-up that builds on our mission to foster joy, connection and understanding by making the arts accessible for all.

The Los Angeles-based TAIKOPROJECT unites the propulsive and intricate sounds of Japanese taiko drumming with koto, marimba, and shinobue—as well as vocals and stunning choreography. The Reser is proud to present new work by award-winning Karnatic vocalist and musician Aditya Prakash: ROOM-i-Nation, and a new collaboration by Caroline Shaw and Gabriel Kahane: Hexagons. The film Buffalo Soldiers: Fighting on Two Fronts explores the often-contradictory history of the all-Black army regiments formed after the Civil War—AKA the Buffalo Soldiers—and the roles they played in the settling of the American West.
