Diverse and Inspiring Programming for Multigenerational Audiences
This year, The Reser is excited to present three projects that will enchant the whole family. In November, Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band bring their whimsical, multilingual “kindie rock” that’s sure to get everyone from toddlers to grandparents dancing in the aisles. February marks the Oregon premiere of NORTH, a new musical by award-winning musician and writer Ashli St. Armant (also known as Jazzy Ash). NORTH takes audiences on a journey of hope and exploration alongside Minnie and her son Lawrence as they escape the South for a new life via the Underground Railroad. NORTH is a story that explores Black American life during the antebellum period, acknowledging the realities of slavery in concert with themes of optimism, bravery, playfulness, and wonder. Finally, the Alphabet Rockers will bring their Grammy-award winning, kid-friendly hip hop to The Reser stage, uplifting and inspiring the next generation of music- and change-makers.
ARI SHAPIRO RETURNS TO THE RESER WITH ALAN CUMMING in OCH & OY! A CONSIDERED CABARET
After his debut with Pink Martini last fall at The Reser, NPR host and local hero returns with his friend and Tony Award winner Alan Cumming in a night of comedy, storytelling, and Broadway music.
MULTI-TALENTED GRAMMY AWARD WINNER CHRIS THILE MAKES HIS DEBUT AT THE RESER
MacArthur Fellow and Grammy Award-winning mandolinist and singer-songwriter Chris Thile—who The Guardian calls “that rare being: an all-round musician who can settle into any style, from bluegrass to classical,” and NPR calls a “genre-defying musical genius”—is a founding member of the critically acclaimed bands Punch Brothers and Nickel Creek. With his broad outlook, Thile creates a distinctly American canon and a new musical aesthetic for performers and audiences alike.
Uplifting Women’s Voices
Reser Presents is proud to highlight the diverse talents and uplift the voices of female artists. From beauty queen Katie Harman’s bombastic autobiographical cabaret show Bring My Crown to Arooj Aftab’s Sufi-influenced Urdu vocals with Love in Exile, a wide range of talented performers will grace the Main Stage. The season also includes Haley Reinhart’s jazz-tinged pop, Nella’s Venezuelan grooves, Lyric & Spirit: An International Celebration of Women’s Voices, Soul Goddess Saeeda Wright in collaboration with the Portland Cello Project, and more yet to be announced.
Return of Audience Favorites
Reser Presents welcomes back audience favorites from last season, proudly creating new traditions here in Beaverton. Kalani Pe’a’s Hawaiian Christmas show returns to The Reser this holiday season, along with virtuoso violinist Mark O’Connor’s Appalachian Christmas, and the wildly popular Portland Cello Project. Community collaborations include performances co-presented with Chamber Music Northwest, Oregon Symphony, and Live Wire.
The wide-ranging season includes cutting-edge music, theater, and film by award-winning artists and emerging talent working across a broad range of performances.
